This is where you will learn how and why to split a ticket

How to split a ticket

  • Step 1: Navigate the ticket for the correct split point
  • Step 2: Assign the correct ticket properties to the new ticket
  • Step 3: Close the original ticket

Step 1: Navigate the ticket for the correct split point

  • Find the place that the ticket should be split based on where the new part of the query starts
  • Click the split button, if present

Step 2: Assign the correct ticket properties to the new ticket

  • Change all the fields to correspond with the new query

Step 3: Close the original ticket

  • If the original query is resolved, set the status accordingly
  • If not, leave it open and continue to solve the query that remains

Foot Note:

Not all tickets can be split. In that case, create a child ticket for the new part of the query.

The reason you would split a ticket is to create a new work stream - in the case where a new query has arisen, i.e. a quote becoming a collection.
